Looks like a bachelor lives here? Yes, a young busy professional that needed a little prodding from me to clean up his condo kitchen.
Wow, look at the beautiful granite counter tops! We couldn’t see them before.
No coffee table, an exercise mat, no side lighting and no pillows! I’m not a huge fan of the red rug but I have learned many people do like to accessorize with red so I worked with it since I had 2 hours, and a nonexistent budget to get this condo ready for pictures. And the after……
Pillows, mirror, coffee table, succulent arrangement and side lamp soften the space.
Mickey is protecting the guest bedroom bed. Hmmmm, thinking we needed a slight update to the bedding and brighten up the space.
The new look still matches the original ethnic vibe of this home, but the lighter bedding and accessories make the room more appeal-able to the general audience.
Bedding didn’t quite fit a large master bedroom.
Much more masculine and updated!
Kids….. Gotta love them, but they sure can be a design buzz kill. Well, we fixed this coloring, eating and play dough station right up!
Ikea, we love you! Cheap, functional, and looks great.
The kids family room which we needed to make a family room for all, including adults.
We still have the kids play table front and center but we stashed all the toys in bins and cabinets.
Sometimes formal dining rooms don’t get used much, so they end up becoming a dumping station for our stuff.
This homeowner was so excited to her her dining room all fixed up, she decided to host a dinner party before selling her home.
This formal living room really gave me a run for my money. It really took me a lot of mental energy to figure out how to get this room to look updated and cohesive without buying any new furniture. It always comes down to the accessories and once again they saved the day in this space too. This is probably my favorite before and after space.
This room just needed to have the furniture rearranged to make it feel much larger and less cluttered.
See, I told you people like red, but I just couldn’t allow this red bedding to stay. Luckily the homeowner owned a simple gray duvet which we used instead. Then we had to get rid of the unmatching side tables, lamps and numerous accessories.
Very clean and simple, This master could have used more picture and accessories but when the budget doesn’t permit, it is fine to keep it clean and simple. Busy and cluttered doesn’t sell, but clean and simple will!
We needed to make this space function as a playroom, tv room and quiet sitting area.
This was an upstairs loft area with a messy desk and old futon. I decluttered, moved the furniture around, took the blanket off the futon and added some pillows. Easy enough with a big impact.
It isn’t the most beautiful space but potential buyers can imagine other uses for the space without all the clutter present.
The green ottoman was too bright and large for this small family room area. Also the chair was really nice but was in the walkway which made the room feel even smaller. I moved the chair to the master bedroom, borrowed a trunk I found in the son’s room and used it as a coffee table and moved the large green ottoman to the living room and used it as the coffee table in there and got rid of the old one in that space. I didn’t need to buy any new furniture, I just moved stuff around.
Book shelves can be great holding places for items other than books, BUT you need to make the shelves pleasing to the eyes.
Now the shelves don’t scream to be decluttered. They blend right in with the comfortable seating area.
Kitchen/ Family room area before decluttering and staging…..
This couch was in perfect condition but very outdated, so I just lightened everything up by switching out the pillows and coffee table. I also changed out the side tables and added new lamps and a larger picture.
This was the master bedroom in a condo with a beautiful view. We just decluttered the entire space, added new bedding, new side tables, new lamps, a new picture and then moved the rest to the garage.
And now all you can see is the view, not all the stuff. Such a beautiful relaxing retreat.
Before staging. I suggested painting everything on the fireplace area white so simplify all the different materials and textures. Also when you stage bookshelves or any type of shelving you don’t have to fill up all the space. Leave some room on each shelf and you can even leave a shelf empty.
