WELCOME! I’m tiffani w goff, owner and operator of twig DECOR design studio. Before I describe what we do at twig DECOR, I want to tell you a little about myself. Actually it is more than a little, but I think it is important for people to know who may be working in their homes and going through their stuff. It’s a personal matter which is why I want you to understand who I am and where I came from.
I am the mother to 3 girls and have been married to my sweet husband for the past 25 years. I graduated from San Diego State with a BS degree in psychology, was married 2 months out of college and then went on to get my law degree at Western State University while working full-time in a law office and going to school at night. At this time, I was the mother to our first daughter Tabitha. Right after graduating from law school, I gave birth to our second daughter Tiara. I missed passing the bar exam by 10 points, note to self, probably not a great idea to study for such an intense test, while being pregnant. Oh well, there is a reason for everything, and NO, I never went back and took the test again.
Nevertheless, soon after finding out I didn’t pass the exam, we learned Tiara had a rare genetic condition called Tuberous Sclerosis. She was born with tumors in her brain, heart, kidneys and suffered intractable epilepsy her entire life. She was the joy and center of our lives, yet required an immense amount of work to care for her. I used what I learned in law school to fight the insurance companies to get our baby what she needed and to be able to communicate effectively with the neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists, and numerous other subspecialty physicians throughout the years. She was 3 years old when God graced us with a surprise baby who appeared 2 years after my husband’s vasectomy. We named her Trinity, as she was our third girl and a true miracle.
During the next 16 years I spent all my time raising my girls and trying to find outlets for my creative ways. My husband Lou, worked in the car business and is currently a sales manager at Crevier BMW. When he would come home from work, I would take off to the garage to work on my creations. For a few years my sister and I ran a holiday decoration business called Diva Designs. We designed custom holiday decorations for people’s home and businesses. We decorated the interior of the Prima Donna yacht , Christmas trees for Mercedes-Benz of Anaheim and numerous other projects for local homeowners. My husband got tired of watching all our children while we were out having fun decorating so we decided to dissolve our business. Family always comes first. After that I continued to accept a few small jobs a year from friends who needed help fixing up their homes on a budget or needed help decorating for a big event or birthday party. I then started a blog, tiffani goff at home, documenting our life raising Tiara. I wrote the blog for over 3 years and we had a rather large following. Tiara was often recognized on the streets of Newport Beach while I pushed her in a wheelchair during our daily walks. I don’t write in the blog much anymore but I keep the site up as it is helpful for new families who have a recently diagnosed child with TSC. You can follow the link here, if you would like to read about Tiara’s journey.
Oops, back to the subject at hand. I love taking an old space and making it new by moving around the furniture, getting rid of the clutter and adding some new pillows and accessories. I also love to plan parties and create custom party decorations for each event. So that brings us to the present. Tiara, passed away on January 15, 2015 after fighting for 16 years. We spent 2015 grieving, healing and recovering from the loss of Tiara. Now I am ready to get back into the work force and help my hubby pay off all the debt we accumulated while living on one income. Raising 3 girls in Orange County on one salary isn’t an easy feat, especially during those recession years.
Soon after Tiara passed away I started helping a friend from high school declutter her home and her life. I worked with her 3 days a week for 4 months solid and until her home was a place she could relax and enjoy and her personal “stuff” was all resolved. At this point I thought I wanted to become a life coach and help people through difficult stages in their lives, especially families dealing with a special needs child, but I realized this process is too emotionally taxing for me at this point in my life.
I was then contacted by my real estate agent/friend who asked me if I could consult with him on any new listings he received. He would pay me a small fee to go in and advise the homeowners what they needed to do to get their home market ready. If they chose to hire me to help them get it ready, they would pay me an hourly fee. I loved this idea. We did a few small projects together and then I told another friend/agent what I was doing and she referred me a large job. So by the end of the year it seems as if I had found my calling because both the agents and the homeowners were thrilled with my work AND I LOVED IT!
What did I love:
meeting the families, figuring out their style, learning what was important to each individual in the home, understanding what had to stay and what could possibly go, helping them go through stuff they have been avoiding, and finally putting it all together so their home was market ready.
So I have created twig DECOR to start helping more people in this same way. If you would like to hear more about my services and pricing, click here.
If you have heard enough and are interested in hiring me, you can contact me at:
